Cracks in tail and one side; it's a solid piece of vintage Americana. Signed and dated on bottom of base. Ron Gallant, New England / Vermont carver. 1995. Base in entirety is approx 30 1/4" long. Whale stands about 5" high off 2" base. This is a one of a kind rare carving. It's extraordinary. Heavy, beautiful, amazing wood folk art piece.
